Webinar | GLOBE Mission Mosquito February 2025: Citizen Science for Mosquito-Borne Disease Forecasting
Event Time: 7:00 pm UTC - 8:00 pm UTC
Location: Online
Join the GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the
Environment) Program’s Mission
Mosquito team on 27 February 2025 at 2 pm ET (19:00 UTC) and Dr. Di Yang and her
team from University of Florida, University of Arkansas, Emory
University, and the Medical University of South Carolina in this
webinar that bridges NASA Earth observations with citizen science for
mosquito-borne disease forecasting.
Learn how EMERGE (Earth observations and citizen science for Mosquito-borne disease risk GEomapping and pRediction) combines GLOBE citizen science data, AI models, and NASA satellite observations to create an early warning system for disease outbreaks. Participants will explore how to use the GLOBE Observer app to collect vital mosquito habitat and land cover data that feeds into our predictive models.
Through interactive demonstrations, discover how different data sources—from citizen observations to climate projections—work together to map disease risk. You'll learn practical techniques for identifying mosquito habitats in your community and understand how your data contributions help protect public health across the Americas. Leave with an understanding of how your local observations connect to continental-scale disease monitoring.
Join us to be part of this innovative collaboration between NASA, universities, and citizen scientists working together to create healthier communities.
